Wivenhoe Dam

Hovercraft were successfully used to eradicate noxious weeds on the Wivenhoe Dam by gliding over the water's surface, reaching previously inaccessible areas for traditional weed removal methods. By applying targeted herbicides from the hovercraft, the spread of noxious weeds, such as Salvinia molesta and Eichhornia crassipes, was effectively suppressed, preventing further ecological damage to the dam's ecosystem. This innovative approach not only ensured thorough weed eradication but also minimized environmental disturbance in the delicate aquatic environment.
