Peter Venn, hovercraft veteran and founder of Hovercraft Environmental Services of Australia, was the second person in Queensland ever to obtain an Air Cushion Vehicle (ACV) Masters Certification of competency on the 31st of May 1977. The Certificate demanded several weeks of study and practicle competency tests, followed by 2.5 hours of exams conducted by marine ace, Captain Robertson. This was further followed by a practical test carried out by several representatives from the Marine board of Queensland.

Needless to say, anyone possessing such a certificate is deemed suitable to carry out almost any professional ACV project imaginable. Yet in addtion, the past 30 years has seen Peter develop, build and pilot a range of hovercraft for use both commercially and for competition use. Besides developing and running other businesses, Peter even found time to train others in his profession to gain the high level of competency required to operate ACVs for competitive and commercial use.
